Columbus Circle in the Rain, Manhattan

Description

Manhattan's beauty emerges in the rain. The statue on Columbus Circle was carved by the Italian sculptor Gaetano Russo in the late nineteenth century. It's carvings include Columbus' ships, the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María, (represented as Roman galleys rather than Columbus' caravels) and an angel holding a globe.
